Library Rewards Store

Library Rewards Store

The Library Bucks program rewards kids, tweens, and teens for reading, participating, helping, and exploring the library. Kids began earning Dino Bucks during the Summer Reading Program, and once school begins, all bucks will switch to Book Bucks. Save your bucks and spend them at our quarterly Rewards Store, opening for the first time in December.

What is a Library Buck?

These are our Library Bucks aka “Book Bucks” — the year‑round library loot youth can earn. Throughout the year, you may see specially themed bucks for events, holidays, or seasons. We’ll post those designs below so you know what to look for.

No matter the theme or artwork, all bucks are accepted in the Library Rewards Store.

Say hello to Dino Bucks — the summer‑time wild side of our Library Bucks! Because this year’s Summer Reading Program was Unearth a Story, we unleashed a whole season of dinosaur fun and kept the roarsome adventure going from June through August.

Kids, tweens, and teens can earn Library Bucks all year long through reading, participating, helping, and engaging with the library.
Specific ways to earn bucks include:

Reading & Activities

  • Returning items on time: 1 Library Buck
  • Attending library events: 2 Library Bucks
  • Library scavenger hunt: 2 Library Bucks
  • Library BINGO:
    • Regular bingo: 2 Library Bucks
    • Blackout: +5 bonus Library Bucks
  • Task sheets:
    • Each completed task: 1 Library Buck
    • Complete the entire sheet: +5 bonus Library Bucks

Activity sheets (BINGO, task sheets, scavenger hunts, and more) are available in the foyer in the hanging folder on the wall.

Bring a Friend Bonus

All youth ages can earn Library Bucks by bringing a friend who has never visited the library before.

  • Regular library visit: 2 Library Bucks
  • Library event: 5 Library Bucks

Personal Donations

Youth may earn Library Bucks by donating items themselves — not parents.
Important: These donations should be something that either belongs to the youth, something they personally purchased to donate, or money they choose to give from their own funds. We want this to be a meaningful choice, never a requirement, and youth should never feel pressured to donate. Any donation they make should come from them and reflect their own generosity.

  • 5 Library Bucks per donation
  • Up to 25 Library Bucks per month

Extra Ways for Tweens & Teens

Tweens and teens have additional opportunities to earn Library Bucks:

  • Volunteering:
    • 1 hour: 1 Library Buck
    • Up to 4 hours: 3 Library Bucks
    • Up to 6 hours: 5 Library Bucks
    • 6+ hours: 7 Library Bucks
  • Social Media Interaction (1 buck per day): If they have their own social media, tweens and teens can earn 1 Library Buck per day by interacting with our Facebook page:
    • Check‑ins
    • Likes
    • Comments
    • Shares

The Rewards Store is where youth can spend the bucks they’ve earned during our quarterly shopping days. They’ll be able to choose from a variety of prizes — see “What’s in the Store?” for more details. The first store will open in December, with the exact date and time announced closer to the event. Please keep an eye on Facebook and our website for updates.

The store will include a wide variety of prizes such as:

  • Indoor and outdoor toys
  • Games and puzzles
  • Stuffed animals
  • Cups and water bottles
  • Electronics (earbuds, headphones, Bluetooth speakers, lights, and more)
  • Gift cards to local shops
  • And lots of surprises!

Prices will vary from item to item. Because this is a brand‑new program and very few Library Bucks are in circulation right now, early stores may have lower prices while we learn what works best. As the program grows and more youth earn bucks, prices may adjust. All pricing will be displayed on individual items while the store is open.

We may announce additional ways to earn Library Bucks throughout the year. Keep an eye on:
